The Okanagan

Many people, guided by tour companies, are directed from the Vancouver/Vancouver Island areas then on to the Rockies. The Okanagan area is often bypassed. This area located in the south-central area of British Columbia many of the provinces nicest beaches, along with the best weather. The Okanagan Valley starts at the U.S. border near Osoyoos and stretches north to the Vernon area. This area of the province has a semi-arid climate and produces much of the fruit available in Canada. Many fine wines are also produced here, with wineries located mainly in the southern part of the valley.
