Vancouver Cruise Ship information

Vancouver is indeed a busy city during the tourist season! Vancouver is rated one of the top 10 destination cities of the world, with annual tourist visits of around 12 million. The cruise ships are expected to have 1 million passengers this season. The pictures on these pages are snap shots of the city and hopefully will supply the visitor with a "non-commercial" impression of Vancouver. In other words, these are images of Vancouver "as it really is," not pictures of a building making it appear as if it is the only building within a 4 block radius.
These pages are under constant change, with new images and information to be added in the near future, please book mark this page and return soon!
The downtown core area of Vancouver consists of an area of approximately 25 city blocks running East-West and 15 blocks North-South. It is bounded by Stanley Park to the West and the Chinatown/Gastown area to the East.
The Northern boundary is Burrard Inlet, the main harbour of Vancouver, and the location of Canada Place terminal and the Ballentyne Pier terminal.
To the South is the False Creek/Granville Island area.

Baker Services has been involved in the accommodations business for 3 years, mainly in the Bed & Breakfast industry. We are connected to a popular online Hotel Reservation System for those looking for conventional types of accommodations.
The downtown core area is not very large. Downtown hotels we have linked to are all within 10 minutes drive of Canada Place. All hotels are located in safe areas, we have not included hotels which we consider "less desirable."

Which terminal are you sailing from? Check out the Port of Vancouver information page.

Check out our in-and-around Vancouver pages, a series of snap shots which will try to answer many common questions about our fair city.

The Bed & Breakfast establishments listed on this web site are many of the best in the city, all having passed very high inspection standards, thus offering a very high standard of quality assurance. Although many B&Bs don't take one night bookings, which many Cruisers are looking for, we do keep an up-to-date list of room availability. Many B&Bs have various one night spots available and will take the booking to fill in. Every season we receive hundreds of calls from people looking for single night reservations, and are asked to call the potential guest back "when something comes available." Unfortunately, this is not possible due to the room availability changing by the hour. The best we can do is take your information, then book a room according to your requests when something comes available.

The Canada Place complex, with the Nieuw Amsterdam docked at the West-side dock. The building in the foreground is the Waterfront Center with the Pan Pacific/Convention Centre/Cruise Terminal behind.
Standing on the corner of Howe & Cordova Streets, the Eastern entrance to the Canada Place complex. The Western entrance is at the North end of Burrard Street.
The main Cruise Terminal entrance.

The Seabus, which docks just east of Canada Place, transports passengers across the harbour to the Lonsdale Quay area of North Vancouver. For people who have the time (the ride is about 10 minutes each way) the view of downtown Vancouver and the cruise ships can be spectacular.

The West-side walkway.

The western entrance to Gastown, which is 2 blocks from Canada Place. Gastown is bordered by Vancouver's less savory area, many people are surprised when they wander from the main Gastown street, our best advice is to stay in the Gastown area and not wander on to any of the streets to the south.
